Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has found himself at the center of a fresh controversy following his public allegations against Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Olohundare Moshood Jimoh over the investigation into the Ajiran murder case.

VDM had accused the senior police officer of compromising the investigation and described him as "extremely corrupt," urging him to file a criminal defamation suit if the allegations were false. However, no official evidence has been presented publicly to substantiate the claims. 

In response, several civil society organisations have come out in support of AIG Moshood, insisting that the investigation was conducted in accordance with the law. The groups argued that accusations against public officials should be backed by credible evidence and pursued through appropriate legal channels rather than social media campaigns. 

A separate coalition of civil society organisations has also petitioned the Nigeria Police Force, calling for an investigation into VDM over alleged cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and incitement. The coalition urged the police to examine the allegations in line with the law. As of the latest reports, VDM has not publicly responded to the petition, and the Nigeria Police Force has not announced any charges or prosecution. 

The dispute has generated widespread debate online, with supporters of both VDM and the police officer expressing differing opinions. The matter remains unresolved, and no court has determined the truth of the allegations.
