Defence Minister Christopher Musa Denies Resignation Rumours, Vows Legal Action
Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has dismissed reports claiming that he resigned from office, describing the rumours as false and misleading.
Speaking to journalists after a private meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Musa said he had never discussed stepping down and had no intention of leaving his position.
"I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this," the minister said, adding that those responsible for spreading the false information would face legal action.
According to him, the rumours were baseless and appeared to be the work of individuals seeking to create confusion over the country's security leadership.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defence also issued an official statement rejecting the resignation claims, describing them as "malicious" and "entirely fabricated." The ministry urged Nigerians and media organisations to ignore the fake reports and verify information through official channels before sharing it.
General Musa reaffirmed that he remains fully committed to his responsibilities as Minister of Defence and will continue working with the Federal Government to address Nigeria's security challenges.
The development comes amid heightened public interest in the country's security situation, with the minister insisting that his focus remains on strengthening national defence and supporting ongoing security operations across the country.
